Hey Guys!
So recently I have been really concerned with what I am feeding my dog. I love my dog, and I want to make sure he lives a long and healthy life. However, I am on a college student budget, and I cant afford the fancy super-awesome dog foods.
Therefore, I decided to make my own. I found a Pinterest recipe that was easy and affordable:
3 cups rice
1 lb meat (any kind, I used deer sausage)
3 bouillon cubes (any kind, I used beef)
frozen vegetables (I usually don’t use a mix with corn, but I found a good deal this time)
First things first:
Boil your rice with the bouillon cubes:
Then begin to brown your meat:
When rice begins to boil, cover and simmer for 15 minutes:
Add vegetables to meat:
It doesnt really matter if the vegetables get fully cooked in this process. They are going to be frozen anyways. The most important part is mixing the meat and veggies together.
Put rice and meat mixture together in a bowl
Get out a cookie sheet and line with wax paper or foil:
Scoop out the mixture with a measuring cup and pack in cup. Then place onto cookie sheet.
Put in freezer until frozen.
Now you can just pop these in the microwave when it is time to eat. I try to mix in dry dog food along with this food because dry dog food helps with tartar build up.
Afterwards I clean with my own mixture of half water half vinegar. I like using this after I cook meat because it isn’t too harsh and full of chemicals, but it still disinfects.
(This is only a Mr. Clean bottle)
I hope your pups will enjoy!
Ciao!

Great recipe! However, just a tip, try adding some calcium (I.e from eggshells) as the recipe is lacking calcium. When the body has insufficient calcium, it starts extracting from bones and subsequently turning to bones into a rubber like consistency! 🙂 you can just keep the egg shells after cooking scrambled or whatever and baked them for awhile, then pound them until they are small enough to be given to your dog without risk of choking! Kudos for making your own dog food 🙂 we do too!
