March is Getting it Together month, and a lot of getting your surroundings together is cleaning! I like to use natural cleaning products in the kitchen, this way I don’t have to worry about my food mixing with harsh chemicals. Plus, natural cleaners are really easy to make. Here are the prime ingredients in natural cleaners and their uses:
BAKING SODA
Baking soda is a power product! It can be used as a gentle scrub, great for buffing off grime. It can also be used to soak up messes, and it is a natural whitener! It also absorbs odors (that’s why your grandmother always kept it in the fridge).
I use baking soda in my stainless steel sink to make it look like new again, and I use it to clean up pet messes (stay tuned for a future post on how).
LEMON
The acidity in lemon is great for removing stains and freshening up a space.
When my garbage disposal starts to smell, I always put half a lemon in there and run some water. It immediately freshens up the smell! I also use it with baking soda to super clean!
Lemon juice can be added to almost any homemade cleaner for scent!
WHITE VINEGAR
I use vinegar on everything! I have a all purpose kitchen cleaner that is made with one part water and one part vinegar. The smell can be pungent, but it disappears quickly.
It is a great natural disinfectant, so I use it on all my cutting boards, along with soap and water. It’s great because I never have to worry about mixing food with chemicals because its all natural! I also use it to remove pet odors!
Those are my top three cleaning ingredients, and I always make sure I have them on hand!
What kind of cleaners do you use in your home?
