Laundry is complicated. Everyone wants to wash clothes and towels according to directions, but in reality, that would make two loads of laundry into six, and sometimes, we don’t have time for that. However, towels can always receive the special treatment because they have their own category! Here are my tips for the best way to wash towels!
WASH IN WARM WATER
I wash all my clothes in cold water, but for towels, I switch it to warm. The warm water helps keep the fibers soft in the towels, so your washing devices will stay fluffier longer! Also, wash every three to four days. This keeps your from over-washing, but also from your towels getting mildew.
USE FABRIC SOFTENER ONCE A MONTH
You would think you would need to use fabric softener every time you wash towels to keep them soft. However, fabric softener can weigh down the fibers and prevent them from being as absorbent as they need to be.
Only use fabric softener once a month to encourage softness, but not ruin your towels. I like to do this at the end of the month in one big wash.
SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE
If you really love your towels, you can shake them out before putting them in the dryer. This separates the loops and makes them dry faster and fluffier! Just make sure you shake them into the washer to prevent water from getting everywhere!
PREVENT THE MILDEW
You do not want smelly nasty mildew towels! SOO.. Never take the towels out of the dryer without being fully dry! Even a little dampness welcomes a flood of mildew. I also like to use dryer sheets for a fresh smell on my fluffy towels!
These are my tips to properly care for you or wash your towels!
