When I first started blogging, I only posted on Twitter when I shared a blog post, and I only did it when I first posted.
This is NOT how you use Twitter if you want to build your community! I learned that the hard and long way.
Now that I have changed my twitter habits, I have almost doubled my following since January.
TIPS TO BE A BETTER TWITTER BLOGGER
- Twitter is a quick moving feed, so if you want to be seen, you need to tweet often. I use Hootsuite to tweet every hour. I usually tweet for the week on the weekend, and my tweets go out as if they were live. I still respond to everyone, but I can go about my day and just focus on my replies instead of my actual tweets.
- If you want to showcase your new blog post, you want to do it more than once. You don’t want to work so hard on a post, and social it only once. I social my post twice on the day it comes out and twice the day after. I then schedule it to social once the week after the post, one month after, and two month after. This also makes it easier to schedule every hour.
- You need to always tag retweet accounts for your blog posts. These will greaten the amount of impressions your tweets get. I use @FemaleBloggerRT and @BBlogRT the most. I have a whole post on hashtags to use as well.
- When using Twitter, be sure to ask questions to your community. I like to schedule questions towards the end of the week to see what my community is up to. Always respond to as many people as you can because it helps add a personality to your blog.
- Another great way to use Twitter is to grow followings for other social media. Sometimes your followers don’t know that you have a Facebook or whatever, so when you let them know, they are more likely to follow you.
I hope these tips help you grow your Twitter account!

Those were pretty great tips. I can’t understand why some people wouldn’t re-social their posts. It’s about spreading the word to even people who may have missed your message the first time around. Let’s see my only other advice would be post more photos or videos on Twitter. Visual is much better than plain tweets.

I’m trying to personalize my twitter instead of it just being something that i promote my posts on but i find unless i use a RT account i don’t get any interactions. it’s like i have ghost followers, theyre just a number because i don’t get anything from them. any suggestions on how to get more engaging followers? (this is on insta too 🙁 )

Mine took some time, and I always use retweet accounts to promote myself, but I also retweet some of my followers stuff and I ask questions in my tweets. You will notice more interaction! Same with insta!
