Recently, I chopped 8 inches off my hair.
I AM NOT KIDDING! Look at these before and after photos:
I have been getting my hair done by the same woman for years, and she never ceases to amaze me. Be sure to follow her on Instagram and.
Since I made such a drastic change to my hair, I have had to make a drastic change to how I style it. Now that I have short hair, it is important for me that it always looks full because I don’t want it to be flat on my head.
Here’s a little rundown on how I keep my short hair full and fabulous:
If you have wet hair, always blow dry it! This is key to always having voluminous short hair! I use a volumizing spray and a round brush – and my hair is dry within minutes!
Now for styling – I start off with using dry shampoo. I am currently loving the Dove Full and Volume Dry Shampoo – it’s main focus is giving your hair volume.
I spray my hair all around in my roots and let it sit there for a few seconds. I usually wash my face while I let it do its thing. Once I am ready, I brush through my hair, flip it over and tussle it.
Then, I pull out my Hot Tools 1.5 inch curling iron. This guy is my favorite, and it’s only purpose is adding barrels of volume. I section my hair so the top part is on top of my head, and I quickly curl the short pieces on the bottom.
These are not going to curl perfectly like your top half – and that okay! You want to use them to make you hair look full!
Once you are done, pull the other part of your hair down. I like to curl these pieces where the ends are a little more straight, but they have volume up top and a curl in the middle. I curl my hair away from my face, and all in the same direction.
Once you are done curling, spray your hair with a volumizing hair spray.
I then flip my hair over and run my hair through my roots – but not my whole head. Afterwards, I flip it back and give it one final spray.
And Ta-Dah, my hair is complete!
