I have lived in Texas all of my life, except for one year. There are so many places to visit in Texas! I have gone to Six Flags over Texas, the Inner Space Cavern, the Magnolia Silos, the Dallas Zoo, the Fort Worth Zoo, the Capital, the Riverwalk, the Alamo – so so so many places – but there is still so much to do!
For 2018, I wanted to create a bucket list of the things I want to do in Texas. Although there are so many things, I wanted to limit it to just 10 (for financial and sensible reasons of course)!
Some of them may seem silly, but as a native Texan, they have always been on my list!
Here are my 10 places to visit in Texas:
Family Business Beer Co.
As a major Supernatural fan, I have to visit Jensen Ackles’ new brewery. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it. This is going to happen.
I honestly know little about it, except for that Jensen Ackles owns it. That’s honestly all I need to know – besides that it is outside of Austin.
Shiner Brewery
Speaking of breweries, one beer, in particular, changed my outlook on beer. This beer is Shiner.
I have always wanted to go on a tour of their brewery, but their times are so weird! I am going to make time to go this year!
Enchanted Rock
I love the outdoors, but I hate snakes. So this creates a lot of mixed feelings for me, and I end up being too afraid of going to beautiful places.
NOT IN 2018.
I am going to finally conquer my fears and go camping at Enchanted Rock.
Barton Springs Pool
Barton Springs is a pool fed by natural spring water in Austin. It has an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming.
It is fed by the Edwards Aquifer – which I have visited.
Dinosaur Valley State Park
Okay so this is cheating – I have been here when I was little. However, I can’t remember any of it!
I would love to go walk where the dinosaurs have walked!
Mother Neff State Park
This place is right in my area, and I need to see it! I follow their Facebook page, and I am always amazed by all the creatures they find!
The Last Drive-In Picture Show in Gatesville
This isn’t the actual last drive-in picture show, but it is in my area, and I have always wanted to go!
It is also something my mom has always done, so I am thinking it’s something to do when they come visit!
The Branch Davidian Site
This one is a given – I live in Waco, and I am in news. I honestly don’t know why I have not gone there yet.
This is the site of the Waco Siege at Mount Carmel.
Go on a Texas Wine Tour
I don’t have a particular wine tour in mind, but I love beer as much as wine, so if I go to a brewery tour, I have to go on a winery tour.
Visit the Authentic Czech Bakery in West
I have been to the touristy part of West, Texas – but I haven’t gone to the real deal yet. I heard that if you venture a little into the city, you will find authentic Czech food!
What are some things you have always wanted to do in Texas?
