To get ready for autumn, I have been doing a ton of home decor shopping. Everywhere I go, I am seeing so many velvet pumpkins! I instantly fell in love with the look of these, and I wanted to make my own.
When I was a kid, my mom used to make so many seasonal crafts, and I was channeling her this season. She would make pumpkins out of dryer hoses, yo-yos and so much more.
Therefore, I headed to the nearest craft store to buy some velvet and thread.
This project is so easy, and for the price of one you buy at the store, you can make 15!
YOU WILL NEED
Velvet thread (.5 yards makes at least two small pumpkins and two large)
Scissors
Thread
Needle
Beans
Stuffing (if you are cheap like me, just use stuffing from a nasty pillow you dont use anymore)
Sticks
INSTRUCTIONS
Start by cutting your fabric into circles. I cut my fabric into two big circles and two little circles.
Turn the fabric with the velvet facing down on a flat service. Pinch the edge of the fabric and thread the needle through. Do this until you have covered the entire edge of the fabric
Tighten the thread so your pumpkin begin to make shape. Add beans for weight and stuffing for fluff.
Once you are done filling the pumpkin, stick your stick in the middle of the pumpkin.
Pull the thread to tighten it around the stick. Add additional stitches if needed. Tie the thread around the stick and cut off the loose ends.
AND YOU ARE DONE! I plan on putting these pumpkins in front of my fireplace!
