Hanging out with friends is a little different during times of social distancing, but luckily, we all have the ingenuity to make your virtual hangout feel a little more real.
Hobbies to start while you are social distancing
If you haven’t had a weekend full of Zoom calls, then you are missing out. Invite your favorite people and try one of these things:
Dinner night
I love sharing a meal with friends – and I really love cooking for a group. Although no one can eat my food, I still wanted to find a way to hang out over some delicious treats.
Also, I am home all day looking like a creature from the deep, so I am always looking for a reason to dress up.
Here is how you do it:
Share a recipe with your friends that everyone has the ingredients for.
Make the meal.
Get dressed to kill.
Zoom, Google Hangout or Facetime – whatever you want to do, with friends and hang out!
Charades
If you are missing game night, the following three ideas are for you.
If you are really bored, let’s be friends on Insta!
When you are doing a virtual hangout, you are able to do so much more than just catch up with your favorite people.
The rules are easy – set your laptop down where your friends or family can see you easily. Share this link: https://www.thegamegal.com/word-generator/
Now, play charades using the words you randomly are given from the link!
Pictionary
For Pictionary, everyone in the group should grab a piece of paper and a pen.
Use the same link in charades to randomly pick a word, and start playing!
Things to do when you are bored at home
Trivia
If you are missing your weekly trivia night, virtual hangouts could solve that problem.
If you are in a large group, divide into groups.
Give each team a different link to ask questions to the other group:
1.Link 1
2. Link 2
3. Link 3
And then let the trivia fun begin!
Virtual Hangout Bar Crawl
Now, if you really miss a night on the town, it’s time for a virtual bar crawl. To do this, set up a few spaces in your home to be “bars.”
I have seen some people try to mimic their favorite bars or create “themed” bars. Anyways, just have fun with it!
Bored while social distancing? Try one of these.
Let each bar or club have their own drink, and go on a virtual bar crawl!
If you are looking for low-calorie options, check out these cocktails. And if you are looking for something more spring, try this blackberry spritzer.
Bookclub
If you have a nerdy group of friends, start a virtual book club! You guys can check in once a week and read a couple of chapters.
It’s a great way to fill the time when you aren’t doing Zoom as well!
