First up is Old Faithful, one of the most famous geysers in the world. It’s named “Old Faithful” for a reason, as it erupts with impressive regularity every 60-90 minutes. The eruption can last anywhere from 1.5 to 5 minutes and can shoot boiling water up to 180 feet in the air! This geyser has been a beloved attraction since Yellowstone became the world’s first national park in 1872. It’s truly a remarkable sight to see.
Next on the list is Lamar Valley, known as the “Serengeti of North America” due to its abundance of wildlife. Bison, elk, bears, and wolves roam the vast grasslands of the valley, making it a must-visit destination for nature lovers. This valley also offers some of the best hiking trails in the park, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Moving on to the geothermal features, we have the Mud Volcano. This attraction is home to boiling mud pots and steam vents, as well as the namesake mud volcano. The mud volcano itself is a large crater filled with bubbling mud that occasionally erupts with a small explosion, sending mud and steam into the air.
