We all know that Austin is the place to be, especially when the weather is just right. As a born and raised Austinite, I’ve spent countless days exploring all the city has to offer. And let me tell you, there’s nothing better than soaking up the sun with some of your favorite people, drinks in hand, and discovering new spots to add to your must-visit list. So, if you’re looking for some inspiration on how to spend a perfect day in Austin, I’ve got you covered. Let’s dive into some unique outdoor activities to do in Austin!
Jester King Brewery
If you’re a beer lover like me, you have to check out this rustic farmhouse brewery nestled in the Texas Hill Country. Not only do they have some of the best craft beer around, but they also have goats. Yes, you heard that right, goats! So come for the beer, stay for the goat snuggles.
Desert Door Distillery
Located just outside of Austin in Driftwood, this distillery specializes in sotol, a unique and delicious spirit made from the Desert Spoon plant. They have a spacious outdoor patio perfect for enjoying a sotol cocktail and soaking up the sunshine.
Hula Hut
For a more laid-back vibe, I love sitting on the patio at Hula Hut. This waterfront restaurant on Lake Austin serves up delicious Tex-Mex fare and frozen drinks that will transport you to a tropical paradise. Plus, the views of the lake and the colorful umbrellas make for some prime Instagram content.
River Nature Trail
If you’re in the mood for some outdoor adventure, head over to River Place Nature Trail. This scenic hiking trail located in the hills west of Austin is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a more intense workout. The views of the creek and waterfall are simply stunning.
Ski Shores
For some lakefront fun, check out Ski Shores. This waterfront restaurant and bar on Lake Austin is the perfect spot for a lazy day of sunbathing, swimming, and sipping on cold drinks. Bonus points if you arrive by boat!
Wine Tasting
If you’re up for a little road trip, Fredericksburg is just a short drive from Austin and is well worth the visit. This charming town in the heart of Texas wine country is filled with cute shops, delicious restaurants, and, of course, wineries. Be sure to check out the historic downtown area and enjoy some wine tasting at one of the many local wineries.
Meanwhile Brewing
This funky brewery located in East Austin has a spacious outdoor beer garden complete with hammocks, picnic tables, and a retro airstream trailer bar. The vibe is laid-back and eclectic, and the beer is top-notch.
