One of my goals every year is to read 1 book per month, or at the very least, 12 books in a year.
Luckily, I have friends that recommend amazing books for me, and I am able to jump in and out of reading quite easily. There is nothing like an easy read to get you back in the habit of reading.
One book that got me back in that habit was Education by Tara Westover. I highly recommend picking this book up to read over spring break while you are sitting on the beach (or relaxing at home).
This book shows what anyone can do with the power of education. The book is based on Tara’s life and accomplishments.
Tara was raised in rural Idaho by a survivalist Mormon family. The first time she walked into a classroom she was 17.
She taught herself everything.
Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life.
She worked so hard to educate herself. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University. Only then would she wonder if she’d traveled too far, if there was still a way home.
Before reading this book, I was feeling extremely unproductive and uninspired. After getting through it, I feel like I have new energy.
Reading about her experience and stamina really inspired me, and I feel like many “girl bosses” need to read this. It is all about finding motivation within yourself to reach your own dreams.
It also inspired me to sign up for my classes about my craft. I know I need to invest in my business and social media education in order to succeed.
